Growing up in British Columbia around the Vancouver area, homelessness has always been a prevalent issue in our community. Seeing so many young people who are only a few years older than I am facing homelessness is a reminder of how not everyone shares the same fortunes that I have.  Sleeping out is a way for me to raise awareness about the issues that young people face and the solutions available through a program like Covenant House to help people build a path to a better life. During the process, I hope to both educate others and educate myself on more of the realities that homeless youth face, and  I hope that we can build a better understanding in the process.
